Sestina of a String and My Three Cats
(Moly and Mol , short for Molokai, Wiki, short for Wiki-Wiki)

Molokai, hopping on his three paws
Comes to a string
His kitty smile is so playful
Chasing it into the kitchen,
But it runs away, despite not moving
And Moly jumps and makes a catch.

Wiki-Wiki made a catch
With her fast as lightning paws
But this catch can swiftly move
For it is a mouse, not a string
She plays it and eats it in the kitchen
After moments of playfulness.

Old Frankie with her playful
Days gone, cannot make a catch
In her owner’s kitchen
So she eats fish, balancing on her paws
So soft, does not see the string
That gently, slowly, moves.

Molokai’s ears prick, and Wiki moves
Closer to the reason for Moly’s playful
Antics, Molokai’s prized string
His prize, his game, and most of all his catch
Wiki steals it, and bats it with her paws
Dragging it away from the kitchen.

Frankie meows, seated in the kitchen
She safely watches Wiki’s speedy moves
And finally, with old and steady paws
Joins Molokai and Wiki-Wiki’s play
And then Moly once again has his catch
His black, thin, prized string.

Runs no more, just like a normal string
So Moly runs for it across the kitchen
While Wiki eats a mouse, another catch
But after that, Wiki is on the move
But Moly gets the prize, the prize to play
And runs fast despite his missing paw.

He has won his catch and now he gets to playAs he moves the string and him past the kitchen
And he naps after he made his move to rest his paws.
